Dubbed a ‘Cameraphone’, the new Lenovo Vibe Shot is as much about being a standalone digital camera as a smartphone. Camera functionality is a huge part of this smartphone’s design, and the Lenovo Vibe Shot even looks a lot like the slim, compact digital cameras that are on the market right now. Some might say Lenovo is trying out a gimmick here, after all having a camera on your phone is now totally taken for granted, but taking a closer look reveals a powerful and unique gadget. Here’s what Lenovo have to say…
Designed Like a Camera
The Lenovo Vibe Shot has a nice premium feel to it, solid metal casing and a few design aspects that are more camera than phone. The dedicated shoot button on the side is one of them, something that has been largely replaced by a button on the touch screen of most smartphones. There is also a button that flicks between smart mode and pro mode, which is essentially automatic mode or manual mode in camera talk. In pro mode you can alter many of the individual settings, like aperture and exposure, like you can on a digital camera. The primary camera has a 16 megapixel sensor, along with Tri-LED flash and infrared focus, and the 5-inch 1080p display lets you check out your photos.
On the smartphone side, the Lenovo Vibe Shot is powered by a 1.7GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 graphics co-processor, along with 3GB RAM. It comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and has a whole bunch of Lenovo software included too. All the specs continue to be pretty high throughout, with a beefy 2900 mAh battery and 32GB of internal storage, which can also be expanded by up to 128GB more with microSD. Expect to see the Lenovo Vibe Shot in stores by June, with a price tag of $349.99 without a contract. To see it in action check out the next video:
